Blow (Virtuous Paradox #1) by Heidi McLaughlin

Meet the complicated men behind the sexiest boy band in America! In Blow, the start of an emotionally charged series from bestselling author Heidi McLaughlin, an insatiable heartthrob gets blinded by the spotlight—and learns to fight for love.

Bodhi McKnight has always had everything handed to him on a silver platter: fame, success, money, girls. The raven-haired, blue-eyed hottie is the son of Hollywood A-listers, and when he’s asked to join the boy band Virtuous Paradox, his star shoots even higher. But so do expectations, leading Bodhi down a destructive path of addiction—until a drop-dead gorgeous guardian angel shows him her sizzling brand of tough love.

When Bodhi ends up in rehab, he doesn’t expect to meet someone as cool and down-to-earth as Kimberly Gordon. Although he’s enjoyed the company of beautiful, charming women before, none of them have tried to get to know the “real” Bodhi. But Kimberly isn’t fazed by his stardom. She’d rather go horseback riding, teach Bodhi to play guitar, or ask him about his feelings. Soon Bodhi realizes he’s fallen head over heels for her. He just hopes that he’s strong enough to protect what they have from all the pressures and temptations of the outside world.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

Getting everything he has ever wanted in life, it isn’t surprising that the now famous Bodhi McKnight ends up in rehab. Yes, the pressures of being famous and in band always comes with a heavy price.

Now in rehab, Bodhi is doing his best to get out and get back to his band.

Kim has seen her fair share of famous people come in and out of her father’s rehab. She does her best to support those who need it and help guide them through a painful, rough and difficult time of their lives. Her job keeps her satisfied and she feels great knowing she has helped those succeed when they get back into the real world.

Bodhi was completely unexpected. For both of them, their feelings for each other came fast. Kim does her best to resist Bodhi, she fights tooth and nail. Knowing it could cost her job if she crosses that line.

I am a big fan of Heidi’s work but this story fell a bit short for me. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good read but for me it lacked those really angsty emotions as well as the difficulties of the actual addiction and I felt his supplier or best girlfriend so to speak, needed a bigger role in his temptation after he left rehab, He needed to be challenged more, you know to have that craving and pressure.

I loved how Kim wasn’t fazed by who Bodhi is. His fame isn’t’ something she cares for. She was professional first and foremost. Beautiful, smart and a huge heart but giving into Bodhi was a give in. He is irresistible.

Bodhi didn’t really act like an entitled asshole, in a way, I felt sorry for him. With having famous parents, he got everything his little heart desired except for what counts the most. The love and attention from his parents. Instead of giving him presents, they should have been more present in his life.

I enjoyed the characters struggles and their determination to overcome the obstacles they face, alone and together.

A fun and sexy read.
